Who is ready for a Thanksgiving feast?! I know we are. Whether you’re keeping it intimate this year or you’re throwing a huge family reunion, there’s something about coming together at the table for the Thanksgiving meal. It’s a part of our history and I think we could all use a little reminder of how we came about rather than focusing on where we currently are.
This holiday has always been centered around the meal; however, it means much more than just having some good food. To refresh your memory, Thanksgiving was established in 1621 when the Pilgrims decided to throw a big feast after finally achieving a bountiful harvest after a year of sickness and scarcity. They gave thanks and celebrated by feasting and recreation.
Let’s Remember What Thanksgiving is Really About
I don’t think there’s anything our country needs more of right now than this holiday. If there’s one thing I’m going to focus on changing this year, it’s my intention. If 2020 has taught me anything, it’s that everything can be taken away in an instant. Life as we know it can change.
This year has taught me that I’ve taken quality time with the people I love for granted. I don’t think any of us want that to ever be taken away from us. Life is meant to be celebrated and enjoyed with others. Thanksgiving is a tradition of that and we often lose sight of what we’re really celebrating.
Even though it only happens once a year, we get wrapped up in how the turkey turned out or who didn’t show up on time or how mischievous all the cousins are being—the truth is, none of that really matters. We need to find thanks in the midst of hard seasons. We need to move forward and decide that we are going to have a brighter tomorrow.
This Holiday, We Encourage You To...
Focus on the people that surround your table. I’ve always felt the most thanks once the entire family is sitting at the table, together. Looking at all my loved ones and looking forward to eating such a delicious meal, it’s a humbling experience that should be cherished.
This Thanksgiving is going to be different in a lot of ways from the previous years. Instead of focusing on the negative, we encourage you to find gratitude in the present moment. This is not at all to discredit what’s going on as a whole in our country, but there’s nothing wrong with taking a day off from the noise and finding gratitude and comfort in the people you love.
To Make Your Thanksgiving Gathering That Much More Enjoyable…
We know how it is getting all the family members together. It can be a little overwhelming (especially) when it comes to all the kids!
